How to Calculate Your GPA

Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is a standard way to measure academic achievement. It's calculated by taking the number of grade points you earn and dividing it by the total number of credits you took.

The GPA Formula

The formula for calculating GPA is:

GPA = (Total Grade Points) / (Total Credits)

Where:

• Grade Points (for one course): Credits for that course × Grade Value (e.g., A=4.0, B=3.0).
• Total Grade Points: The sum of all your grade points from all courses.
• Total Credits: The sum of all the credits you took.

Example Calculation

Let's say you took 3 courses:

• Course 1: 3 credits with a grade of A (4.0) -> 3 * 4.0 = 12 Grade Points
• Course 2: 4 credits with a grade of B (3.0) -> 4 * 3.0 = 12 Grade Points
• Course 3: 3 credits with a grade of C (2.0) -> 3 * 2.0 = 6 Grade Points

Total Grade Points: 12 + 12 + 6 = 30
Total Credits: 3 + 4 + 3 = 10

GPA: 30 / 10 = 3.00
